What’s the difference between the Competition Grip and the Original Grip?
Our Competition Grips all Conform to the Rules of Golf and can be used in competition with the soft, light weight feel and functionality that players love. Our Original Grips are a one-piece design that, although great for casual players or for practice rounds, do not conform to the rules. The key difference is the ball retriever on the Competition Grip is removable, thus satisfying the rulemakers.
What does it mean to “Conform to the Rules of Golf”?
The United States Golf Association (USGA) is one of two rule-making bodies, along with the Royal & Ancient (R&A) tasked with creating, interpreting and enforcing the rules of golf. This includes working with equipment manufacturers to ensure that golf equipment (clubs, balls, putters, grips, shoes, etc.) all comply with the rules. After a 14 month collaborative process in working with the USGA, our Competition Grip was deemed Conforming on May 30, 2023 (decision number 2023-0262A-B). This was our Liberation Day!
Is the suction cup removable?
